Process Control

Understanding and maximizing process stability

Fluid handling plants operate at a specified process setpoint (usually flowrate, pressure, or temperature). The pumping system must guarantee that the actual operating point matches the desired setpoint. To do so, the pump speed must be accurately adapted to react to disturbances in the system, or to changes in setpoint.

In this lesson, you will learn…

  • …what is a closed control feedback loop
  • …what is a PI controller, and how it operates
  • …how to manipulate the controller parameters to obtain an ideal process control
