Flow Pressure Pump Curves

Understanding the hydraulic performance of a pump

The flow pressure curves express how a pump will perform in regards to flow and pressure at certain pump speeds. The intersection of the flow pressure curves with the system load curve represents the achievable duty points. A Levitronix pump can operate at any duty point by adjusting the impeller speed.
The flow pressure curves are determined at specific test conditions such as density, viscosity, or liquid temperature. These test conditions need to be accounted for when using a pump in processes with different liquid properties.

In this lesson, you will learn…

  • … why the flow pressure curves are useful when selecting the right pump size and model for a process
  • … how to read a pump flow pressure chart
  • … how the achiebeable duty points of a pump can be determined using the flow pressure curves
  • … how liquid properties such as density or viscosity affect the flow pressure curves
